We went for a drink on Saturday afternoon as we have many times before. There are lots of gin selections a wide variety of beers, which my husband his friend enjoy. The barmaid was very accommodating by letting my hubby his friend have a small sample of the beers they wanted to try before purchasing. She was very knowledgeable recommended specific ones the reasons behind her recommendations. Upon returning to the bar the male mos was at the bar, my husband asked him if they ever served a particular local ale was met with a lot of foul language about the quality of the beer abuse and foul language about the guy that brewed it. My husband was taken aback as it was quite a diatribe of abuse. The man was not very engaging with any customers, total opposite of the two women didn’t smell very pleasant as my friend kept getting a whiff of him when he walked by. He was constantly getting up wiping the sides of his mouth with blue roll but never washed his hands or sanitised afterwards, which in these Covid times was a bit concerning.
The experience at this restaurant was terrible in every sense. We were treated as if we were an inconvenience, with no greeting and minimal service. The drinks we ordered tasted the same and lacked flavor. When we attempted to order food, we were met with reluctance and a long wait time. Overall, this establishment embodies everything that is wrong with hospitality in Yorkshire. I would recommend avoiding it at all costs.
This was my first visit to this restaurant, but it definitely won't be my last. It has a modern take on traditional pub vibes and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and fairly priced. They also have a fantastic selection of ales, although I can't drink them. Luckily, they had my favorite cider available. I will definitely be returning soon!
I contacted the restaurant through Facebook to inquire about their beer selection. I was able to make a reservation for a table on a Friday using Facebook as well. When I arrived, it wasn't too crowded and my table was ready. I had forgotten to bring cash, but they do accept cards with a minimum spend of £5. The server directed me to a nearby cash machine. Unfortunately, they had run out of the beer I wanted, but they had four other options to choose from. I appreciated their support of breweries from Yorkshire. Before being seated, I was asked to check in using the NHS app and the server brought the QR code to my table.
