There were only three tables sitting including us and any time we wanted something we had to flag the waiter or waitress or hostess down to get something (no one was ever formally introduced as being our server and any time something came out it was brought by a different person). I do have to say the hardest person working was the person who seated us. I do not know if she was a hostess but she was bringing out food taking orders and overall picking up slack from the other three people on staff who only seemed to be gossiping by the bar. Now since it is miami spice month my friends and i like to sample everything on the menu so we each ordered something different. The best part of the entire meal was the arugula salad as an appetizer. The dessert was a close second because it was just the right amount of sweet but the other appetizer on the menu and the entrees were definitely not what i expected them to be. The soup of the day was vegetable soup and sadly it tasted like it came straight from the can. The mofongo and pork belly looked promising but was definitely lacking flavor, the pasta was tough and also lacked flavor but the garlic bread deserved a better meal to be paired with. I can't say too much about the Mahi because it was so salty that everyone at the table tried it in order to persuade our friend that it wasn't that bad but it seriously was. Maybe we went on a bad day but the overall experience of this place was bad and i won't be going again.
Me and a few of my friends decided to go to 5300 Chophouse as we wanted to tryout their Miami spice lunch menu. This restaurant is located in The Blue hotel in Doral and it has a view of the pool next door. The ambiance is elegant and overall a nice feel to it. For the appetizer we had the choice of arugula salad or chicken enchilada soup. The soup had a nice array of flavors and we all enjoyed it a lot. At this point it all seemed promising. Three of my friends and I ordered the Crab and Lobster Tortelli and I was not impressed at all. The sauce was bland and the pasta itself was not flavorful at all. The whole meal was like buying refrigerated pasta at Publix and doing it yourself, actually there's a high possibility that the box from Publix would be better in taste. My girlfriend and another friends ordered the Mofongo with pork belly and i must say that they made the best choice out of all of us. It was good Mofongo, not the best we've ever had, but nonetheless it was very enjoyable. For desert we had the Chocolate Genoise Trilogy which was also okay, but nothing out of this world. Overall the experience was okay for the $23 for a Miami spice lunch. But in my opinion I don't think it's worth a second try or for more money,
I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, especially after seeing the enticing Miami Spice Menu online. Offering a lobster tail and Angus beef tenderloin as entrée options is quite rare for a Spice menu—definitely a winning combination! With high expectations, we headed there. The restaurant is small and surprisingly empty when we arrived. We were seated right away and handed menus, though there was an odd smell coming from them (not that we were sniffing them too closely; that would be strange). We ordered the heirloom tomato carpaccio, the Latin tostones, the prime rib, and, of course, the land and sea combo. A nice touch—the Spice menu includes a complimentary glass of wine or beer. However, we received our appetizers before our drinks arrived. To be honest, my tomato salad was just sliced tomatoes drizzled with oil, vinegar, and salt—nothing remarkable. My boyfriend's tostones, unfortunately, were cold on the inside, clearly indicating they weren’t made to order. That was disappointing. Moving on to the entrees, my beef tenderloin was flavorful, and the mashed potatoes were also quite good. I saved the lobster tail for last, expecting it to be the highlight, but it turned out to be the most overcooked and chewy lobster I’ve ever had. Even the membrane between the meat and shell was so tough that I struggled to cut through it. My boyfriend's prime rib was decent but had quite a bit of fat to trim off, though that can happen with prime rib. The dessert was probably the best part of the experience. The guava pound cake with ice cream was fresh and not overly sweet. Overall, our experience did not live up to expectations. I would recommend that the restaurant focus on improving food quality—perhaps they should stick to the items they do well, like the Angus beef tenderloin, and maybe reconsider including the lobster tail. And lastly, they should address whatever is causing that strange smell coming from the menus.
The food was disappointing, to say the least. The atmosphere didn't match the prices they were charging. To make matters worse, when we arrived, the air conditioning was not on! In Miami?! They had to call someone to unlock the thermostat just to turn it on. If I hadn’t used a Groupon, I would have been really frustrated.
Came here for the nice dinner night of my bachelorette....and wow it was amazing! It 's inside a hotel, oddly we were the ONLY table there on a Sunday night, but we didn 't care, the 5 of us loved it. The service was phenomenal, the selection (although minimal) was great, the food was absolutely perfect and the desserts were just WOW! 2 of us had the T-Bone (5 out of 5 stars) 1 of us had the arugula salad (so fresh and flavorful) 1 of us had the pork belly (soooo amazing) 1 of us had the salmon (4 out of 5 stars, it was farm raised salmon) We shared the flatbread and for dessert shared the salted caramel cheesecake (to freaking die for) and the key lime pie (was good but I 've had better)
