Contribuisci feedbackWe recently visited Restaurant Meindl during our holidays in Vorarlberg. I wanted to have roesti with spinach and fried egg and chose this restaurant, because of its good reviews on Tripadvisor. We opted out going to another restaurant, as we read that it had a smoking section. When we arrived, we were greeted by an attentive waiter who asked us if we wanted to sit in the smoking, or non smoking section. Of course we chose non smoking. We were then led to a small area with only three or four tables as opposed to the smoking section, which had more than triple the space (this is by the way illegal). The area was separated by a glass wall and glass door, which was never properly closed. The whole place reeked of cold and later on fresh smoke. When we ordered the roesti, we had the feeling that the waitress didn't approve of our choice of one of the cheaper dishes on the menu. She seemed grumpy the whole time we were there. What was kind of odd, was that the personnel seemed uncoordinated, stopping by in quick succession, asking the same questions. The couple at the table next to ours found this amusing as well. The roesti itself wasnt what I imagined. It was rather thick and not crispy enough for my taste, but other than the huge amount of pepper I had the feeling that the cook dumped their pepper shaker on it it was okay. The spinach however was almost inedible due to it only tasting of garlic. I really love garlic and I believe that spinach and garlic go well together, but this amount was way too much for my taste. To make matters worse, the fried egg was only half cooked and quite glibbery. We didn't want to make a fuss, so we didn't say anything, but we won't visit Restaurant Meindl again.
Restaurant Meindl is the restaurant of the hotel with the same name located in the little town called Lustenau, near Bregenz, in the West part of Austria, near Germany and Switzerland. We slept in the hotel and we had dinner once here. This day we tasted a fish of Bodensee lake and we drank a Grüner Veltliner white wine. Both were very good.
We were as a bigger group again with mydl. our family has visited this locally for almost generations. we were kindly received, the drinks and dips listed and ordered - and after a short time everyone got their desired food. this is not always possible with larger groups. I especially liked that the specialties of the day were specifically pointed out (carpaccio, calves, etc.) the foods were well prepared and the feedbacks throughout positiw. from the price at the conclusion. also the prices of drinks are very moderate. will come back here again!
We were on the return journey to the Swiss and got lust on a white carving. fortunately we saw a placat of the restaurant that directly appealed to us.Dort arrived friendly welcomed and ordered directly our carving. it was great. the device a mix of modern and tavern.
We always like to come to the restaurant in the middle. always summer can be eaten out on the terrace or even on the meadow. good-bourgeois kitchen, not too small portions.
