Such a cute shop, the patio was adorable! Coffee was absolutely fantastic and fresh. The food was made right in front of us with fresh ingredients, and the staff was so friendly. Camping at Van Buren State Park, needed a place to warm up and get out of the rain, this cafe was truly a delight. The large front window brightens up this coffee shop, most are so dark doing art is a struggle, not this place I’d highly recommend this to anyone in the Douglas or Saugatuck area looking for a place to do some writing, some art, or chatting with the locals. Wish they had some gluten-free pastries or snacks. Thank you so much for a great welcoming joint for my girlfriend, her service dog, and myself!!

This is one of my favorite places in Douglas for some breakfast and a latte with a friend. Yeah, sometimes it takes a minute to get your food, but it's a quaint, relaxed coffee place they're always doing their best and that's what matters. Their baked goods are delicious, they have great breakfast options, and their coffee blends are great. I have no problem being patient and enjoying my coffee while I wait a few minutes for my food. My husband and I are sure to visit Respite every time we visit from Illinois. We suggested our son and his wife try it. We all keep coming back. The menu board can satisfy any palate, and the coffee, tea, and specialty drinks are spot on. The staff has always been very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy.
