Popped in for lunch after a walk on a cold and mizzly January day. We had a warm welcome, nice beer and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. For me, vegetarian sausages, home made chunky chips, broccoli, carrots and a very tasty onion gravy. For him, linguine bolognese with garlic bread. Both very generous portions and freshly made. The cherry cheesecake to follow was lovely too. The landladies were both very friendly, and we were impressed by the extensive events calendar. Worth looking at the club's website for what looks like super B B provision too in a great walking area. We'll be back!
A small group of friends met up to have a Christmas meal last evening. I booked beforehand, and advised that one person needed to have gluten free. The meal was excellent, catering for everyone’s needs. They catered for the gluten free meal without a problem. Providing gluten free, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and Christmas Pudding. Staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble, she even took our group photos for us!! Defiantly would recommend!
Myself and husband stayed from Friday, 1 December 2023 for two nights in the family room. The room was amazing really roomy and, in the very cold weather, super cosy, warm and very comfortable. We were really pampered by the staff particularly Mary, Sam and Graham, the chef. The food was fabulous: we are vegan and had fantastic vegan breakfasts served which set us up for the day. We were treated as though we were royalty. We had a fantastic base to explore the area and would definitely recommend and, hopefully, go back soon. It is a wonderful old building, full of character. We both loved it.
We recently visited the Five Bells for the first time and it seems we have stumbled upon another quality pub in Kent. Despite making a last-minute booking, they were able to accommodate us without any issue. Due to us bringing our dog along, we were seated in the bar area, which was bustling with activity. However, the staff were attentive and the service was excellent. Three of us opted for the Sunday Roast, which received unanimous approval. While the Yorkshire Puddings were a bit disappointing, the cauliflower cheese was delicious and the roast beef was very tasty. The meal was accompanied by a generous serving of vegetables. It was evident that the team is doing something right as the bar was filled with regular patrons. Additionally, the pricing at the Five Bells was very reasonable. Whether you are a local or just visiting the area, we highly recommend this establishment.
