Castle - Downham Market

Lovely center of town hotel. Rooms are nicely presented and priced well. Staff are lovely

Just home from a 2 day stay at the Castle staff very friendly and obliging would highly recommend it

Excellent meal and service in very comfortable surroundings.

The decor is a bit eclectic, but that makes it worth a visit. I stopped in for a pint before heading to Downham Tandoori. I had no problems with the staff or service, and I would definitely come back again!

We stopped by to grab a bite to eat and have a drink while passing through, but since we had never been to Downham or this hotel before, we didn't know what to expect. Unfortunately, we were met by a very unfriendly woman at reception who didn't make us feel welcome. It was clear we weren’t familiar with the hotel's procedures, and she informed us, somewhat dismissively, that food was no longer being served since it had ended at 2 PM, as if we should have known that. She also mentioned that we wouldn't find food anywhere else, even though it was only 3:30 PM. We left feeling quite deflated and, sadly, I wouldn't recommend this place despite its lovely appearance.
