Grande Roche - Drakenstein

This restaurant provided excellent service for a dine-in lunch. The price per person was over R 500. Both the food and service received a rating of 5, as did the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.

My first time I will go back. The view, coffee, food and services are 5 star quality. They are expensive though but then again, it is a stunning place. There are enough tables, you can sit on the stoep, or inside. They do cater for group functions as well. At the back of the restaurant are a swimming pool and tables to sit as well. They are in town, but on the side towards the mountains. They share the space with the hotel, with the same name.

This restaurant is absolutely stunning with incredible views and exquisite decor. The interior is immaculate and very peaceful. The restaurant caters to hotel guests and walk-ins, offering a limited menu with the option of a cheese platter. We tried the small 3-plate option for R550 per person and initially thought it was pricey for only three small plates. However, once the food arrived, we were blown away. The taste was exceptional, like something you would expect from a Michelin-star chef. The presentation was beautiful, worthy of a gourmet photo shoot. The staff were impeccably trained, professional, and friendly. I would return in a heartbeat if it wasn't so far from us. To everyone at the Grand Roche restaurant, you have gained a loyal fan in me. Thank you for providing us with such a perfect dining experience.

This restaurant was a complete disaster. The majority of the food was overcooked and the items that weren't tasted like they were straight from a supermarket. The service was also average at best. Considering the price, it is completely unacceptable. This establishment used to be known for fine dining ten years ago, but it has clearly lost its way. The only saving grace was the dessert, which was great, hence why I didn't rate it one star.
