We asked the tour in the tram office at the postplatz where we were, and the typical charming and helpful lady who had proposed a day ticket on the excellent tram system. they really don't need the city tourist bus! we took the tram from the city and went to the castles. not much to do in the middle of the afternoon, we had missed the tour through lingner castle, but the view over the elbe and the distant city are wonderful. and then were only read for a nice hot drink and some cakes, so much pleased to find this open teestube. excellent cake and a good selection of tees. plus a quite interesting and important glass chandelier. ask the personal.
We came without reservation and got the last unbooked table. great view over the elbe Valley and a part of dresden. and more food that should wait (freshly prepared eating needs its time.) friendly staff and a very pleasant international atmosphere. we're gonna...back!
It was a sunny balmy evening, a perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary in a beautiful castle with views of the elbe and dresden. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was pampered by a terrible service of unskilled servers. my wife last glass, waited minutes before I could order something and wait a few minutes. a salate are served. sigh.
When I visited dresden at the beginning of the septembers at a conference, I had some time to explore the city itself. it was my first encounter with the former Eastern European city that suffered a lot during the second world war. I went to the linger terassen to have a dinner with a large international group. I went from the old town to the venue on a sunny day: a very pleasant exercise on the side of the elbe. Unfortunately, the tor in the wall-wit stairs that led through the weinberg up to the terrace was locked, so I had to walk through the forest, but that was also a very interesting walk. we all came together on the terrace, were offered a glass of German champagne and enjoyed the view over the river and dresden on the other river banks. we took time to make some group photos on the stairs on the terrace. we had dinner buffet style, and eating was excellent in quality, like the weeping and the friendly staff. at the end of the dinner the fireworks were illuminated in the castle of the neighbor: an excellent way to finish our evening at this beautiful place.
