(Almost everyone I've been to does this) I hate getting food that has been roasting under heat lamps for hours along with the fresh stuff.
Our local Retired Teachers of Ontario booked the February luncheon at the Hong Kong House in Dryden Ontario, Monday, February 8. Although the private room is a bit tight or a group of more than 40 people it is a great bonus for the community to have a venue like this where a group can have a meeting and lunch as a group. The buffet is Chinese fare, pretty basic but it was attractive as for many the option of 2nds and 3rds is a good one. The interior is nice, clean and not fancy although pleasing to the eye. The food is the usual basic Chinese fare found in many "Chinese" restaurants in North America - included egg rolls, chicken balls, chicken, fried rice, Chinese noodles, stir fried Chinese vegetables, clear broth, crisp noodles to add to the broth, sweet and sour sauce and plum sauce too. Buffet includes a beverage ie coffee, tea or a soda. Price was good - the group had negotiated a slightly lower price for members but for guests the buffet was $ 13. The meal was quite enjoyable although being a lot is deep fried not a place I would go daily. The waitress made frequent visits to attend to refills of coffee and tea and water. The restaurant also as main restaurant seating for customers. Parking is good, as there is a central lot that services the Hong Kong House and several other businesses housed in the same large building in the center of town. This makes for a nice centrally connected restaurant from which you can walk to many other places to shop or do business, while leaving the car at the central parking area. This was a bonus IMO after eating a lot of food that needs to be walked off! :-)I would recommend this as a place to go occasionally.
There's only two Chinese style restaurants in Dryden, and this one is the better one in my opinion. I've gone quite a few times and always enjoy the food. The service isn't the greatest, but any questions I've had about menu items were answered thoroughly and she got the job done. (I've only ever had experience with the same waitress every time I go, and I'm not the chatty type. She seems like a nice enough lady just doing her job) All in all, if you want some good Chinese food in Dryden, this is the place to go.
Got take-out for two travellers to east in hotel room. Friendly staff, no problem packing for take-out. We each had different combo plates. Good food, quite large portions. Not a fancy ambiance restaurant (order at counter then move to a table or take-out), but good food at a good price, we would certainly go there again.
Love the food here as they will do it without MSG and food has very little batter on it. Service is fast and servers are great
