Contribuisci feedbackTreated to lunch here for my birthday. Everything, food, service and venue perfect. Staff especially attentive withour being intrusive and the food was fabulous. First time here but definitely will be going again. High standard restaurant but no stuffiness or tension.
Super quality food served by very professional staff making the experience all the more enjoyable. The restaurant has the perfect balance between formal and casual which is a very hard thing to do. We cannot wait to return because as a dining experience ,it is right up there with the very best.
A special occasion, wedding anniversary,so it had to be Dax for a special meal.We were not disappointed and Dax more than lived up to my expectations.Must be the best restaurant in Dublin and thoroughly deserves it’s superlative reputation. We will be back.
A really great restaurant with comfortable surroundings, incredibly numerous and efficient servers and a very limited but exquisite menu. The stuffed courgette/zucchini flower starter (stuffed with prawns and lobster, I should specify) was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time.
I must have eaten at over a dozen of restaurants over the past few months without feeling compelled to write a review, but this is different. We had such a perfect lunch at Dax that it would be mean not to report on it. The starter of courgette flower stuffed with lobster and prawns is simply stunning, both visually and on the palate. There seems to be a seafood mousse holding the contents in shape and the lobster sauce is rich both in texture and in taste. This dish alone is worthy of 1.5 star in my view (I know that there is no such thing as a fractional star, but not being Bibendum, nobody can stop me from awarding them as I see fit). The rest of the meal is perhaps slightly less striking but very satisfying nevertheless, with perfectly cooked slightly pink pork of excellent texture and moistness. A good Paris-Brest to conclude. The wine list is very comprehensive with all the French classics well represented; maybe I am imagining things, but it seems to me that the south west of France is less well represented than before. In Terrasses du Larzac, there are more interesting and cheaper wines than the one listed; in the Italian section, a few Langhe Nebbiolo would be a useful addition as these have the advantage over Barolo of being cheaper and of drinking earlier. There is a decent selection of half bottles, something which is more and more uncommon. The service was excellent with just the right level of formality without stiffness, swift but not rushed. Altogether a moment of bliss.
