Contribuisci feedbackThis restaurant is amazing! A few weeks ago, I came here with friends and discovered this hidden gem. The waiter provided detailed explanations of each dish, and the chef even came to our table to chat with us about the food. It was an authentic experience, and very vegan and vegetarian-friendly.
I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend for my birthday in February. After reading reviews from their pop-up in late 2018, I was excited to try it out. I reached out to them on social media and was pleased with their friendly and enthusiastic messages, keeping me informed about their upcoming pop-up events. We started with the pork ribs and jackfruit patacones. The patacones and everything on the plate were amazing, packed with delicious flavors. I still crave it just thinking about it. The best way to enjoy it is with your hands, no utensils needed. The cucumber pickle that came with the ribs was tangy and complemented the flavors perfectly. For my main dish, I ordered the goat curry, which the chef mentioned was thick this time because of the okra. The texture was a bit unusual for me, but the taste was fantastic. The rice and peas were a great side, and the jerk chicken was incredibly juicy. I can't wait to go back before they close again and I hope they become a permanent restaurant.
The food at this restaurant is incredibly delicious, especially the goat curry and jackfruit tacos. It's great value for the price, with extremely friendly staff and a pleasant setting.
I had been hearing great things about this this place so decided to book a table for myself and a few friends. We arrived to the restaurant with an exceptionally warm welcome by a very friendly waiter, who showed us to our seats. Nick the owner came over to us and stateside us and went through the entire menu! (Excellent customer service) The food was so jam packed with flavour. Exceptional value and very filling. Food is great to share with friends. Would recommend everything. Great vegan options available too. Will be back.
Myself and 5 other friends were in Dublin at the end of August visiting for the first time all the way from Canada. Coming from a very eclectic and rich culinary scene in Toronto, we were underwhelmed by the food in Dublin until we dined at Lil Portie. Without exaggerating, this was by far the best meal we had on our trip! With half of our table being from a West Indian background, we were still blown away with the creativity of the dishes and the flavours. I could not tell you one thing that was my favourite on the menu because everything was uniquely delicious and cannot be compared. One thing that i really enjoyed though was the hint pepper on the dishes. I can say there isn't a restaurant like this in Toronto. I highly recommend people who have never tried authentic Jamaican food to try out Lil Portie, you won't be disappointed! Nick, you are an amazing chef and thank you for such a great dining experience!
