While the staff were doing their best, you did not think they were putting their heart into it. Also the menu did not offer anything inspiring. However, it is a great spot for a summer evening
The Merrion Hotel is situated opposite Government Building, near St. Stephen's Green and the National Gallery of Art of Ireland. The hotel has a fine collection of Art and is set in four beautiful old Georgian houses and renowned for fine wines. The new restaurant is a great addition to the hotel and very popular. All day dining. Breakfast to Dinner. Overlooking internal courtyard with a large garden with water feature. The restaurant is open 7 days a week. The food is very good and service is high quality. Great to see a restaurant with a carpet, so that when the restaurant is full of it is still not too loud like most other restaurants that have hard surfaces on the floor.
This restaurant, located in a lovely hotel, is beautifully decorated. However, when charging high prices, the quality of the food should match. Unfortunately, in our experience, the food was mediocre. The presentation was decent, but the flavors were lacking. Both of us ordered fish, but neither the wild halibut nor the salmon left a lasting impression. The baked potato that came with it was also disappointing. Although the service was friendly, it was rather slow.
This is a great place to unwind after a day of exploring. Make sure to sample the cheese platters, their tasty ice cream, the smoked salmon, and a flight of Jameson whiskey (3 shots). The service is top-notch, just as you would expect from the Merrion Team.
The terrace, which overlooks the beautiful gardens of the Merrion Hotel, offers a peaceful retreat in the center of the bustling hotel. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of teas and pastries in this tranquil setting.
