Great spot for karaoke, good service and drinks delivered promptly to the private room. Highly recommend it for team events.
Overpriced food. “Optional” service charge of 12.5% added which isn’t clearly stated anywhere on the menu and is essentially sprung on you when you go to pay making you feel awkward.
We visited Maneki yesterday afternoon for my cousin’s hen do. We had booked 4 hours for karaoke and dinner (two courses). There was 18 of us and honestly the service was incredible. The drinks were prompt and everyone was so attentive. The food was great and it was such a laugh, I would highly recommend visiting for any occasion, or even just for a meal. I forgot to note down the name of our waitress which I’m gutted about because she honestly made our afternoon feel so special. Thank you so much!
We arrived without a booking to a restaurant that my girlfriend has had on her bucket list for a while, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Firstly, we had specifically picked it on the night because there is Unagi Donburi on the menu, but it turned out that there wasn't any on the night, even though the server seemed to be unaware of this when she took our initial order. So my girlfriend had to choose again, which is fine (I work in the industry so understand these things happen), but for some reason the kitchen went ahead and prepared my dish before she reordered; it literally arrived seconds after she ordered and left her sitting with just a bowl of miso soup in front of her while my whole order had arrived. She ordered Teriaki Beef, which arrived about ten minutes after my dish, and turned out to be quite tough. Unfortunately the server chose to check back with us before my girlfriend had even started to eat (her meal was still sizzling at the time) so we were unable to inform anyone of this until she had finished. When she did (for some reason our plates were cleared at different times) it felt like we were then ignored, and literally had to go looking for someone to pay so we could leave. Now, the 12.5% charge, which is apparently optional. There doesn't seem to be any mention of this on the menu or website (if there is it's certainly not anywhere obvious) and I feel, as someone who has previously worked in places with a service charge, it should be clearer. I had already left a cash tip on the table (I tip automatically, but almost didn't because of the issues highlighted) and had to fight the urge to go back and pick it up when I saw the charge. We both felt very let down by our visit, and I'm afraid with over 2000 other restaurants to choose from in Dublin probably won't be back.
