For my taste the roast is perfect: the beans have been taken just to the edge of cracking and releasing their oils (important to me as oily beans clog my machine), they are dark but still dry, so the aromas and flavors are rich but not too strong. Whoever roasted this batch knew exactly what they were doing and had split-second timing. Highly recommended. I'll write another review after a while to assess consistency over time.
I was told I need to try this coffee. I had it for the first time and it was pretty good. After that, my coffee always tasted burnt. I thought maybe it was just me, but I have had various people say the same thing. I love that it is local roasters, but I don't think I will buy them again.
All of their coffee tastes burnt to hell. Any light roast is a double joke. One extra star for being local.
Italian blend was our favorite for a few years, we hoped they would keep up with what we had come to expect. However ; recently the flavor profile has changed ; dramatically. Customer service has always been great, however “goodbye Jane!†it was always nice. Now, after Making attempts to get them to blend and roast something we were use too... for years...they don’t seem capable of producing the same quality consistently. Sorry to say... We are looking for a new source.
I know coffee well, from the beans to the perfectly brewed cup with cream. When City Girl Coffee was introduced to me, I was particularly captivated by their claim that the beans were roasted and ground on the same day, along with the background of the parent company, Alakef Coffee, which was started by her father in pursuit of a great cup of coffee. Since I had run out of coffee and a trip to Costco is quite the expedition, I decided to order from Alakef. The worst-case scenario was I’d have coffee on hand; the best would be discovering something fantastic. I ordered a bag of French roast because I enjoy strong, dark coffee, and awaited its arrival. I chose ground coffee for convenience. When it finally came, I brewed my first cup and instantly understood the hype. The freshly roasted coffee had a smooth flavor with no bitter undertones; it was simply delicious. I was thrilled! I immediately subscribed for regular deliveries of the French roast. Interestingly, my partner stopped drinking coffee about three years ago, but he was drawn to the aroma of my brew and decided to try a cup—he likes it black. Now, he enjoys sharing those quiet mornings with me over coffee. Takeaways: 1. If you love coffee and appreciate the convenience of home delivery, this is an opportunity worth exploring. Subscribing is likely to be more cost-effective than daily purchases. 2. The coffee is smooth without being bitter; the dark roast offers a rich, pleasant taste, devoid of that harsh quality some coffees have. 3. A French press truly brings out the best flavors. Wishing everyone luck and joy with their coffee. Thank you, Alakef, for brightening my mornings! You can check them out at: alakef.com.
