I don’t know whether it was stale cigarette smoke in ten year old carpets, mold, poor ventilation or what. But we could not stay there. We checked out immediately. I rated the Service well because they were very courteous about canceling our reservation with no penalty. But I would never recommend anybody stay in these rooms. In case the Management cares, It was room 1509. We went to the nearby Park Point Marina which had one room left. The difference was like night to day. It looked clean and smelled clean.
The room was clean but they barely stocked any towels or coffee for what was supposed to be a suite . Was an extremely retro room gross 1950 's green couch and blah wallpaper. Paid 300$ for what I would call an 80$ room. I guess we paid for location but for that price the should have updated long ago. The downtown spot is perfect for walking to a restaurant or down to the pier/boardwalk. It was booked last-minute so we still jumped all over it. Duluth is a beautiful place to visit.Nearby activities: Casino, brew pub, Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant, some shops, ice cream place, and board walk pierWalkability: Places were an extremely close walk to get to all with in about 8 blocks
We tried 5 rooms in this hotel. All of them had awful are conditioning. After talking to 3 maintenance people they were able to make the our original room work ok. When they showed up with a fan I knew we were in for a ride. So, we made it work in the hopes of enjoying duluth. Alas, we returned after a day of site seeing at 8:30 at night. The room had not been made up. Turns out you have to call for service and make them aware you wanted it. This was not communicated to us at the time of check in. This hotel should be downgraded. I will never return.I would have to be paid to stay in this place again.
Overall this Holiday Inn hotel. We booked a King Harbor View room. The Harbor View was very disappointing. As an individual with a balance/gait condition the tub/shower had no grippy surface I chose to forgo a full shower and took a bird bath at the sink. If you are driving yourself around some sort of navigation tool is a really good thing to have; there some one way streets that can be confusing.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was okay, housekeeping was attentive. Towels were good quality. Lyric restraint was great, food, drinks were good and wait staff was attentive.
