Despite the 30% increase in price for my usual takeaway pasta, the portion size has been halved and there is hardly any eggplant in the ragu sauce. The taste was not as good as before and I was still hungry after spending $26. In contrast, the night before, I had dinner at a popular Japanese restaurant in the CBD with beautiful new decor in a large Westfield mall. The portion size was three to four times larger, the set meal was delicious, the service was great, and the sashimi was incredibly fresh. I left feeling full and only paid $28. It makes more sense to eat in the city and get more value for your money rather than pay more in the suburbs and still feel hungry.
On Monday evening for dinner with friends. The steak from the special board... When I paid... it was $48!!! I know I should have asked the price... but come on... we're not in Dulwich Hill something chic...Steak House! Unfortunately at these prices I will not return!!
The lamb was tasty and the fillings were good, but it didn't stand out from other Yiros places in the area. I found the price of $27 for Yiros chips to be a bit steep. The lamb from the spit was too expensive for me at $25 to $45 per serving. The $35 lamb ribs were worth it, though. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was spacious. Yiros Square in Marrickville is a popular spot near the train station. Personally, I didn't notice much difference in taste or quality compared to other places, but this spot offers better chips at a cheaper price. There's another charcoal chicken place just 500 meters down the road that sells their chicken for less, but the same quality. The high prices at this restaurant may have reasons behind them, but I didn't see the value. I would probably not return if I found similar food for a better price elsewhere.
The Eate does a really good yiros roll with good chunks of tasty lamb and filled out well with salad (a few soggy chips but not too many). Other dishes are good too including nice heavy coffee. The prices are seriously high though and it's...not as fancy as you might expect from this price.
