We stopped off here enroute to Berwick and ordered the sweet potato, coconut and chilli soup and a mushroom burger, which was meant to be a bean burger but they had none in, so this was the substitute. The soup was pleasant enough with the chili providing a nice spice kick but the mushroom burger was just simply a mushroom in a bun with very little seasoning and no flavour. Very disappointing considering it was about £12. Thankfully the chocolate orange cake we shared was divine and they do a really good soya latte too. Outside there is ample seating, which is where we had our meal in the basking sunshine, but also a children's play area that our young son enjoyed. You will have to contend with passing trains and corn flies outside but that's hardly the cafes fault I know! There is also a shop with a good range of vegan options worth checking out, which is why I have decided on a 3 rating.
Stumbled across this place on our way back from Scotland and was hugely impressed. Lots of yummy vegan options including mushroom soup, vegan cheese scone, salads, burgers and cake! Lots of vegan treats in the deli shop too. Will definitely stop off if passing this way again.
Dogs allowed in the cafe at Strawberry BarnMushrooms good, spinach really tasty, tomato lovey hot with seasoning. Hash brown yummy with the beans. The bread was toasted (no butter) but actually didn't need butter, really good. Only bad bit was I didn't like sausage x2. Next time I'd ask for more spinach and extra hash brown in place of sausages. Would highly recommend!! Will be back for another visit
