The tomato bocconcini salad was done with home made pesto and was very refreshing. A very enjoyable quick lunch!
We were looking for a restaurant and pub to eat and unwind after our hike and chanced upon the King West Bistro. This is a little gem in downtown Dundas! It has a beautiful decor and very friendly and welcoming staff. They also have a small but lovely patio. As a plus, there was also live music - blues from 3-6pm.Tried their local beer - Lager Shed, and also had the Beet Salad and their Fried Chicken Club sandwich. The food was delicious, the salad was fresh and the chicken was perfectly grilled and tender. The restaurant prides themselves on using fresh and local Ontario farmed ingredients which is always a plus.
We wanted to try out a newly opened restaurant in Dundas, but, because our dining guests called to say they would be delayed due to traffic congestion on the Hamilton mountain, Gayle and I decided to relinquish our reservations to other guests waiting and try out a little bistro down the road from our original destination for a glass of wine while we waited for them to arrive. Are we ever glad we did! On entering King West Bistro we immediately felt it had a very nice atmosphere and were shown to our table. Sitting at a table near the bar area was another couple: my wife's former high school gym teacher, and a gentleman I worked with over 30 years ago, so we all had a good chat to catch up.Our server Kelly recommended a nice Cab Sauv which was new to their menu, and one we enjoyed until our friends arrived. To help us decide on our orders, she and Claire, the other server, would tempt us with glimpses of wonderful looking dishes as they walked past to other tables. Very quickly we realized that the staff were passionate about making their guests feel welcome. Our meals were very well prepared, nicely plated and all four of us of thought our selections were delicious. Rob and Tracy had the Tenderloin, Gayle the fish tacos, and I had the smoked chicken and mushroom penne with vodka tomato sauce. Throughout the evening Gayle and I thought we recognized Kelly but couldn't place her. It was lovely moment when we finally realized we had met over 20 years ago. It was even more interesting when we discovered other coincidences. We enjoyed meeting the owners June and Gary, who came over to introduce themselves and ask if we had any comments about our evening, a touch we always appreciate. We hadn't planned to dine at King West, but serendipity had other plans for us. We came way feeling like we were regulars. If you are looking for a dining experience that goes beyond the food itself, one where the service shines, we highly recommend you try King West Bistro.
My wife and I stopped here while doing our laundry across the street (long two week trip). We wanted sandwiches for lunch and we found a real gem. We both had the chicken club sandwich which was made with fresh chicken not processed chicken. Atmosphere is modern with pictures from Dundas in the old days. Service was very good and attentive. Give it a try when you are in town.
First time visit to this hidden jewel. The food was freshly prepared and beautifully presented. I had never had beetroot soup before, but it certainly won't be the last! Fresh ingredients daily. Staff friendly and attentive. Excellent experience.
