Large art gallery with beautiful artwork and many selection of artists. There is also a shop and a café.
I really loved the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. You can move through the rooms at your own pace. I loved the recording on Maori art and artists. Although (as tangata tiriti) the stories were not my own, I learned a lot by trying to look at the different works through different cultural objectives, and their significance for the people with whakapapa to the aua represented in a lot of the pieces. My only criticism would be that loud music could be heard in a large part of the gallery, and my audio-sensitive friends fought to enjoy the art.
A fine visit with a very special selection of paintings being displayed. This Gallery is richly endowed with art works of a very high caliber and provenance.
Such a cool place to come and wonder around. Has a super cool wee kids section which is always being up dated. We don't come too often but love how every time we do it's different and interesting. The staff are amazing and super friendly. Ka pai team keep up the amazing mahi.
