The interior decor could use some improvement, but the scrumptious desserts more than make up for it. It's a wonderful place for a family lunch overall.
This restaurant used to be lovely, but when we went for a special meal on New Year's Day, we were disappointed. The room was smokey due to the wood stove, so all the doors were open which made it freezing inside. They had run out of slow-cooked beef, so I had to settle for steak. Unfortunately, the steak was so tough that I could barely cut it, let alone chew it. We decided to skip dessert because the overall experience was unpleasant. When I informed the manager about our experience, he just shrugged it off. It's a shame because this place used to be great, but I won't be returning.
A family group of 10 of us went here on a Saturday evening in September. We had heard good reviews but we were all very disappointed. Firstly, we stepped in out of the lovely evening sunshine and were shown to a room with no windows. No view, no natural light and no atmosphere. My mother ordered lasagne from the kids menu as she can't eat a large evening meal. It was no exaggeration to say that it was revolting. We all tried a bit as we could not believe how horrible it was and really she should have sent it back but did not want to make a fuss. We can only assume that on the kids menu the horrible item had lain undiscovered so long because noone listens to kids complaints. The main courses were ok but tiny portions. No vegetables and only one tiny boiled potato per person. When asked about maybe a few more potatoes the waiter said that there was enough on the table. We did not get the impression from the reviews that this was a restaurant for weight watchers but it was a low calorie affair. Bill came to €460 for 10 including 4 children which was a huge amount for such a disappointment of a meal.
One of the best restaurants in Ireland, the Lemon Tree is a hidden gem located in the sunny south east in the charming village of Dunmore East. My family and I have been dining here for many years and we are always impressed with the food and service. The menu offers a variety of beautiful fresh dishes, with something for everyone, and their takeaway menu is fantastic. The freshly baked brown bread is a must-try. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining, making it a perfect spot on a beautiful day. The friendly staff go above and beyond for their customers, creating a wonderful atmosphere and overall enjoyable experience. If you are visiting the sunny south east with your family, be sure to put the Lemon Tree at the top of your list - you won't be disappointed.
Wanted to go here for a long time … what a disappoint. Most things on menu had run out . Went for mussels abd chowder . Chowder good . Mussels not . Ran out wine . Blue grass festival this weekend …. Not a good start . Toilets broken . Hopefully if we ever go back they will have their act together
