Wonderful evening and meal. Our server was Andrew. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I was completely at ease with handing him the reins on our evening. His dinner suggestion and desert/liquor pairing just made the entire dining experience fabulous! I could not imagine a better first night in this new city.

Awesome foods and staff, great hospitality. My wife and 3kids enjoyed that great time. We really loved mussels.

Wonderful dinner made all the more enjoyable by the outstanding service and the added benefit of live entertainment. Highly recommend.

Our first visit to this restaurant, which proved to be a solid choice for downtown dining in Montreal, on a night we wanted something close to our hotel. The restaurant has an appealling atmosphere. Friendly servers. We particularly liked bartender Mathieu and waiter “Johnny.” However, they both seemed over-worked, leading to impression the restaurant may be under-staffed when there is a full house, as there was when we arrived. Menu is traditional French bistro fare, with the expected offerings. Each thing we ordered was good: salmon tartare, a green salad, cavatelli with a creamy mushroom sauce, duck confit with fingerling potatoes and caramelized Brussels sprouts, crème brûlée. Well-prepared and nicely plated. Our only critique would be that we felt almost everything was overly salty, including the dressing on the salad and the sauce on the pasta. This is not unique to this restaurant- we see this elsewhere. Wine list includes bottles to please almost anyone. We selected a wonderful red Bourgogne that matched our entrees perfectly. We did think the by-the-glass offerings could be improved, particularly the reds. Overall a pleasing experience, and we will return.

My wife and I went to Le Pois Penché for our 30th wedding anniversary. It's a very decent and nice place. There's live music. We didn't know about this before going there, but we were very pleased. Unfortunately, the waiter couldn't quite understand our main course order because the volume was a bit too high. He brought only one plate of food instead of two. When we told him about it, he fixed the problem. Both the drinks and the desserts were very good. I definitely recommend it.
