Lumpy's Grill - Eagle River

I took my 70-year-old mother to Lumpy's for a fish fry last night after she praised how good it was during her last visit with my sister a couple of weeks ago. We were seated immediately, but we were quickly hit by a strong smell of urine. My mother noted it reminded her of the nursing home where she used to work, which made me realize it wasn’t just me who noticed it. Initially, I thought it was just the smell of fish, but it became clear it wasn’t. I can't understand how anyone could eat in such an unpleasant environment. My mom mentioned that it didn’t smell like that during her previous visit, so maybe there was an issue with someone dining nearby. We ended up opting for a pizza from the grocery store and ate at her place instead. The quality of restaurants in this area can vary greatly, often depending on the food or service, but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to experience either this time. I assume it’s better than McDonald's, though. We plan to give it another try in a couple of weeks when we celebrate my birthday. If the odor isn’t reminiscent of a Slovakian restroom with a urinal—something I’ve experienced personally—I'll be sure to update my review.

You won't be disappointed with anything you try here. I will definitely come back. The dinner was excellent.

This was an excellent stop! There was a wide variety of food options, the quality of the food was outstanding, and the drinks were fantastic. The kids particularly enjoyed the arcade-style games available. The chicken pot pie, perch BLT, and open-faced prime sandwich were all delicious. They even offer a great selection of mocktails!

Had a wonderful dinner 7/2 and one of the friendly waitress we came across here in the Northwoods! Busy time with the holiday, but SYLVIA took it in stride, always smiled and chatted! Thank you!

Best thin crust pizza!! Though, next time will be the odd one and ask for less cheese. Really GREAT clam chowder (no rice... Because that is just wrong). Excellent fish fry, service, and atmosphere. Wondering if they do take and bake...
