I wouldn't go so far to say her call is a lot of A-DOO over nothing, but there's a little space for improvements. judgement: 3.5 out of 5 stars
3.5 stars) a taste of tasmania I was disappointed to see the festival skip, was the famous scallop pies of the staates. this required a bit of side tripping for us to try to find the best exemplar. my first experience was in doo town, a scenic small coastal town that gave us in stabs about their home name – make doo, dr. doolittle, Didgeri-Doo – just to name a few. not to overbid the business we visited was a food car called Doo-Lishus, parked in the eaglehawk tease parking. the environment has a blowhole underpressure on the day we thrive, as well as some shaded picnic tables with a picturesque view. the Doo-Lishus curried scallop pie $8.50) contained some, large, tasty skalopps, which were bathed in a saucy, yellow curry with keen’s curry powder. I could have seen that.
I was so excited to try this place and as we were travelling from Melbourne I even made a point of coming here in our itinerary. This place really disappointed me, the seafood did not taste fresh and unfortunately I couldn’t stomach it, much of it went to waste.
On our way back from Port Arthur we stopped by this food truck for lunch. We tried their curry scallop pie and the quiche of the day. I 'm not a fan of meat pies in general, but they said the scallop pie was award winning so we tried it. Personally, neither my husband or I enjoyed it. It also had a very runny sauce and I found the fish flavor was off-putting, however, I 've never had a scallop pie before so can 't compare it to much. We both much preferred the quiche, although the portion was very snack size.
They do reduced price pies in the early evening, $5 instead of $7 for a scallop pie! It was just a so so scallop pie though. They do a whole range of fried seafood. And if you want to splurge out, they also have abalone (precooked, vacuum packed) for $50 although this sounded quite pricey to me for a food truck!
