The staff was amazing throughout the entire process, from check-in (we had made online reservations) to ensuring our life jackets fit, boarding the bus, and unloading afterwards. My only suggestion would be to consider playing some music during the bus ride, especially if the driver isn't naturally chatty. It felt a bit awkward in the silence. While I have no complaints, some good tunes would definitely help set a fun and festive atmosphere. I will definitely return with my kids. Also, it's great to note that they offer a 'pink bottom' tube for little kids who might be too small and could fall through a regular tube. Good to know!
Katie, the exceptional van driver for Saluda Tubing, is a true gem and a valuable asset to the company. She embodies excellent customer service and pays great attention to safety precautions, which reflects her genuine concern for both the customers and Saluda Tubing. For first-time visitors, be sure to wear sunscreen, water shoes, and bring along water to stay hydrated in the bright sun. Cheers!
I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. It was well-organized, and the facility was great to use both before and after my ride. I highly recommend it for a relaxing afternoon.
We had booked the tubing excursion for the past 3 years and until this year have had a great experience. This year, myself and 5 others from 2 hours out of town came for the tubing experience, only to be called 8 minutes before our tubing time when we were 5 minutes away to be canceled. The lady on the phone said “due to the weather, we are not sending anyone else out on the river today.” We were disappointed to say the least, but given the summer pop up storms, initially found this excuse valid and they were able to refund our money. The 1 star review is because we were LIED TO. We were visiting a family member that lived 5 minutes away from the tubing center and on our way out of town, 45 minutes after our initial tubing time, we witnessed Saluda Outdoor Center busses dropping off tubers at the drop off site and plenty of tubers in the river. We are livid that we were lied to by the staff “not letting anyone else out on the river” when we made the 2 hour drive. Our best guess is that the staff was unorganized and overbooked and victimized us. Very unprofessional.
Went tubing a few weeks ago and was both disappointed and satisfied. First, I’ll say that one of the tubes my family was given was not fully inflated and apparently had a preexisting leak. This leak did not happen on our trip because I had concerns about it before we began, but I assumed the guy who handed it to us knew it was okay. Not so! We got about halfway through the tubing trip and had to call the office to send a replacement tube. This was a potentially dangerous situation since my daughter had to split a tube with me and there are both some deep pockets of the river and a couple of rapids as well.On a brighter note, I’m thankful the staff accommodated us and also refunded one admission ticket for our troubles. That was a nice gesture and was very appreciated. Sadly, this debacle could have easily been avoided by the employees doing a visual inspection before hurriedly grabbing tubes to hand out.The river itself is decent and relaxing, but it isn’t your more typical mountain tubing experience. If I lived locally, I’d encourage folks to go tubing, but if you’re coming from out of state, I’d recommend going to a more traditional mountain tubing venue.
