This place was great, had ever had a $12 lunch special, partner had bark meat and black bean and the sauce was delicious and bark nice tender and I had the honigh chicken, and it's always my gothic dish in any Chinese restaurant and it's the best thing I ever had, much huh with a beautiful thin layer of teig. the fried rice option was fantastic, especially as they no longer have to pay for it! the service was beautiful and the place is beautiful and clean.
We drove from melbourne to sydney after a week. I had already disappeared at home and we thought at hoi was a quick lunch. we ordered black bean bark and chicken with vegetables (both come with a side of steam or fried rice. the owner is quite warm and friendly and gave us free garnel. it was such a comfort! Non-pretentious, tasty and fresh. we loved it. it was just what we needed to survive the long journey before us:
Just had take away sweet and sour pork. Was really enjoyable. Must ask what they use in their sauce as yellow in colour...maybe saffron? but not bright red and gelatinous like so many others. I was so happy when I got home to find boiled rice, pork and sauce were all in separate containers so the pork didn't go soggy. Also gave complimentary prawn crackers which was a nice touch :
The thing to remember about an Asian restaurant in the country is that they don't have much in the way of competition... Or a large customer base for that matter. This explains why the cost of a meal is about 15% above Melbourne pricing. The food itself was tasty, albeit pretty stock standard. The decor was decent, but not particularly spectacular. Another take away over eat in restaurant.
