Beautiful meal with generous portions. beautiful dessert. very pleasant staff. would recommend
However, our visit today was met with a rude greeting from a large man who, as soon as we walked in, curtly asked, "Are you eating with us today?" He immediately suggested we sit at the small table right in the walkway to the Carvery, despite the fact that 80% of the pub was empty. We requested a table near the TVs since we were planning to stay for the afternoon, but he refused. My wife ended up sitting at the tiny table right in front of the bar, where we felt cramped and uncomfortable with patrons walking by. Frustrated, we left and discovered the "Magpie" in Stowmarket, where we were greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed fantastic food. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there. The rude behavior of the man at the Fox was disappointing, but it led us to find a much better spot at the Magpie, where we received excellent service and had a lovely meal for less money. Thank you, rude man, for directing us to a better experience!
I stopped by for the Sunday Carvery. The pub is quite large, but there weren’t many people there, likely because it has just been taken over. The roast was good and reasonably priced.
