After ordering takeout several times, I finally decided to dine in at this restaurant. Without a doubt, this place serves the best pizza in East Ayrshire. The only area for improvement would be reducing the wait times for takeout orders.
To be honest... bitterly bitterly disappointed. The menu looked and sounded so good, however, the standard and quality of food is nowhere near restaurant quality. If it was a greasy spoon cafe I'd have given three stars but for an alleged speciality pizza and burger diner it's a big fail.Waiting staff were polite and smiley and can't fault them on that, but attention and observations needed for great waiting staff wasn't there. The taste of the food was okay, it wasn't anywhere near what you'd expect. We ordered cheesy chilli nachos as a starter as well as cheesy chips. On the menu described the nachos as being handcut... that must be urban slang for Aldi's basic tortilla chips, smothered in a greasy watery mince covered with some liquid cheese. At least there was plenty of fresh chopped chillis as that was the only part that had flavour, they must have had over ordered the fresh chilli's which I'll explain shortly. Chips were again straight from Aldis frozen section and had the taste of actually being from the oven rather a fryer, smothered in the same liquid cheese and with fresh cut chillis on top?!?Pizza was okay but had suffered from sitting under a heat lamp too long and this can be said for the chicken burger as well.. brioche bun stale and dry chicken over done. The worst offender of the night was the creamy cajun chicken pasta dish that my daughter ordered. This is where the query about the chilli over order comes in... the top of the dish was layered in fresh cut red chillis which in the menu was no mention of. The title of creamy could also be called into question as the amount of oil at the bottom of the dish was curdling anything creamy. The pasta had been boiled then added to a frying pan that was cooking the peppers, onions and chicken in a sea of oil then tossed in with what ever tiny amount of cream and spice they had then straight into a bowl and served. Again like before the taste wasn't terrible however was more like what your Nan would serve on her first attempt at cooking with pasta and olive oil, when her special is mince and tatties. The problem is, on looking at the kitchen staff I can't bring myself to use the words chefs) they certainly give the appearance of not being skilled or anywhere near experienced. If someone had said the week earlier they were actually part of the Standalane rail bridge repair crew I wouldn't have doubted it. That's it in a nutshell, no actual proper chef would prepare or even allow waiting staff to present these dishes to customers. If Gordon Ramsey had popped out of the toilets and was filming an episode of Kitchen Nightmares it would have all made sense.I have made some humour to this post however they definitely need an experienced member of waiting staff to supervise the floor and an actual chef or two in the kitchen...There was plenty of other complaints but you get the jist... just not very good. The first pic is the chips all the chillis around the side are actually from the pasta dish the excess ones she couldn't eat for fear of burning out her taste buds. The starters were still left on the table when they delivered the mains
I had dinner here lastnight and it was incredible! Food was delicious, all of the staff were lovely and couldn 't be more helpful in recommending dishes. I 'll definitely be back. Also thrilled to see that you can order online via an app called 'food booking '
