The food is of high quality and the portion sizes are satisfying. However, the prices are on the higher side, with dishes starting at £25 for two courses and drinks costing £6.20 for a pint of San Miguel lager or Aspinall Cider. If you don't mind the cost, this place is definitely worth a visit. However, I may think twice about returning as there are many other options in Ely that offer better value for money.
We were a group of 18 friends staying in the local area and wanted somewhere for lunch..At very late notice.! We found this pub online and to our happiness , they could fit us in , with only 90 minutes notice. The food was excellent, staff helpful and reasonably priced! Great! Would recommend!
Decided to stay at this place due to its location which is close to Ely cathedral. There is a large free car park at the rear of the premises and it only takes a minute or so to get to pub. We were greeted with a very warm welcome from the female members of staff and very quickly shown to our room for the night. It looks like the rooms have been recently upgraded and are in an excellent condition. We were at the top of the building with windows both to the front and rear. Although the windows are wooden there was barely any road noise overnight. Bed was comfortable and I felt at home. We decided to eat at the pub for our evening meal. Wow! The portions were by far the biggest I have ever had in similar locations and my eyes were way bigger than my belly and sadly I left a lot of food, though I must stress had nothing to do with the cooking as everything tasted so good. Breakfast was a similar tale. Clearly everything was freshly cooked as breakfast took around 30 minutes to arrive which was fine as we were continually asked if we wanted more tea. I wouldn’t hesitate to return given the opportunity. Lovely location, lovely staff and lovely food.
Bar area both baby and dog friendly, with a very safe highchair. 3 different breakfasts ordered and as fussy eaters we were all impressed with the meals presented. Baby portion of scrambled egg on toast was well cooked and creamy. My eggs Florentine was perfectly cooked with runny yolks, and simply the best Hollandaise sauce I have ever had. Due to illness I was only disappointed that I could not finish the generous portion. The all day breakfast, and bacon with pancakes and maple syrup were equally well presented and reported as excellent. In summary the food was exceptional, the staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere relaxing. I will definitely visit this pub again when I am in the area.
Very busy, but excellent service largely by young staff. Sunday roast was served quickly and was fairly good beef a little chewy). Overall a good experience, have been several times in the past, and if anything this was better than before. Well done the team. Will go back again.
