Handy café in Alton. Food is fairly basic and inexpensive, but is home cooked and quite well prepared, and generally tasty. We've been there a few times, and have usually been happy. It's not huge, so can fill up at peak times. Last time we asked for a veg burger, but got a standard meat one. We didn't send it back, but obviously this would have been a problem for vegetarians. It hasn't put us off though, and we will most likely return.

There is a new independent cafe called Bahama Bay in Alton. The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed. The food is delicious and very affordable. We tried the Da' fish sandwich and the big breakfast. It is worth noting that any previous negative reviews may have been for a different cafe at the same address.
