Ratatouille Bistro - East Hampton

It was obvious that the kitchen had overestimated her skills.

We arrived early for our reservation, enjoyed some wine and salad, and then awaited our chateaubriand. Around 7:15, our server informed us that the chef had prepared the meat medium rare instead of well done, which is what we had ordered. They then made us another chateaubriand, but it arrived at 8:00 PM and was surprisingly lukewarm rather than hot. We decided to cancel dessert and asked for the check. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Ratatouille. The food itself was good, but the overall experience was quite disappointing.

Nice fireplace in small dining area. Food was very good, but quite expensive on a comparative basis with other similar venues. Felix was awesome and friendly but spread too thin. The duration of the meal, without desert, was unreasonably long.

The restaurant was fantastic! My only complaint is that it was a bit chilly, even after we asked for the heat to be turned up upon our arrival. Additionally, I think the prices could be more reasonable.

I ordered from the newly added Bistro menu, which provided some nice fix prix menu items at a reasonable price. My appetizer choice was the Ratatouille Tart, which was tasty and a very generous portion. Sea bass was my main dinner choice and was tasty, but a small portion. Dessert choice was a caramel crepe, which was quite nice. My dinner partner had the Beef Strogonoff, which was a choice from the evening specials menu. The beef was cooked to order and the generous portion of strogonoff was served over savory mashed potato...the overall dish was delicious. A side of ratatouille accompanied this entree. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. Overall...a good experience. Although many of the regular menu items are quite pricey, adding some less expensive bistro items offered some good food at a more reasonable price point.
