Well what can i say, We very much enjoyed being at Coltsfoot Country Retreat last weekend at a very close friends wedding. The staff, service and attentiveness was absolutely first class and the surroundings were beautiful as were the rooms and i honestly cant think how you could have bettered the same.
I recently attended a beautiful wedding at this restaurant and the venue was absolutely perfect. The ceremony took place with stunning views and even included a fox strolling across the field. The staff were exceptional and seamlessly transitioned from the ceremony to the dining space. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch.
We had a pre-wedding tasting at this venue and found the food to be excellent during normal restaurant hours. The majority of customers are business people, couples celebrating special occasions, and newly engaged individuals. The atmosphere is quiet and happy, with a cozy bar for drinks before and after the meal. I particularly enjoyed the salmon and duck pate as appetizers, and the lamb shank and Boursin chicken as main courses were also very good. The creme brulee and chocolate torte with Cointreau for dessert were delicious. While there was a slight decline in food consistency on the wedding day due to cooking in bulk, the flavors were still impressive.
So after travelling for business for two weeks this was my last dinner out before heading home. I was pretty tired of hotel food and eating out. So when I was very pleasantly surprised by the food presented at dinner it ended a busy trip on a high note. I ordered the beetroot and goats cheese starter which was pleasantly presented and tasted amazing! I ordered the fillet for the main which was perfectly cooked to medium and a fabulous cut of meat. The combination of wild mushroom and bed of kale was ingenious and really gave a great flavour to accompany the meat. Having a menu of only a select few items is great too, there is enough choice for all tastes but not enough to get overwhelmed with choice. Well done!
