Maru Sushi Grill - East Lansing

Maru has always served my favorite sushi, but I would recommend other locations before this one or just order carry out. In my most recent experience, my husband and I came here for my birthday dinner and were “greeted” by a very rude hostess named Reagan. She made it abundantly clear that she did not like my husband’s sweatshirt and then proceeded to lead us to the very back of the restaurant that was still undergoing renovations, so we were sat amongst all of the unassembled booths, plastic dust curtains, and completely removed from the rest of the busy restaurant. She continued to make very nasty looks at him during our entire time there. Our server, Olivia, was amazing and the only reason we decided to stay. I’m not sure why we were judged so heavily and treated this way, but it was enough to never want to return and recommend anyone else avoid dining in here.
