The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with blue lighting following a recent renovation. The main seating consists of dining tables and chairs, with the addition of 2 Chesterfield settees, but there is not a designated lounge area for just having a drink. The Sunday carvery was enjoyable, although the Yorkshire puddings were a bit too hard. The menu offers a good variety of options, but the prices are on the higher side. The drinks are also a bit expensive. The staff is friendly and efficient.
I was out of town for the weekend and was in the mood for a Sunday carvery, so I chose to visit the Maid Marion pub. There were five of us, but as soon as we arrived, a staff member (who was unpleasant) informed us that the carvery had already finished. While I understand that, I was disappointed by their attitude, especially since the hotplate was still full of food that they were going to throw away rather than serving us for just an extra five minutes. I decided to go next door to the fish and chips restaurant instead, and I was very happy with the hot food and friendly staff there.
Decided to try here again after going before when it was maid Marian’s. Wish we wouldn’t have bothered food was nowhere as nice as it use to be! Gammon was fatty and the steak wasn’t so great either. We were highly disappointed as this was our wedding anniversary meal! Definitely won’t be going back!
Took the family here for lunch, I thought it seemed quite expensive at first but I definitely got what I payed for. I had a pulled pork burger, it was served in a pretzel style bun the burger was thick and juicy and the chips were amazing, probably the best chips I’ve ever had. The staff were really helpful too
