Me, my husband and stepson recently came to Butlins for the festive wonderland break (in between Christmas and new year) we have been to the beachcomber inn before however it was 2018. On one particular visit it was just me and my husband who came for breakfast. We had toast each, cereal each, a latte and an americano and it came to around £11. It is slightly more expensive than a pub chain outside a resort but that’s fine, it’s to be expected. Nothing really to report on breakfast as it would have been difficult to get wrong! Another visit we came for our lunch.. my stepson just had a bowl of chips as he doesn’t always have the best of appetites, my husband had the mixed grill and I got a jacket potato with chilli and a separate portion of cheese. Unfortunately the cheese was missed off my order so we had to request it and when we originally placed the order for the jacket potato we were told that i could not have one because it was after 3pm however on the menu it does not state this. Anyway to cut a long story short the kind lady behind the bar put the order through for me. It’s an average pub with average pub grub, don’t expect the ritz and you won’t be disappointed l.
Went in here while we were at a music weekend. Food is the usual pub menu food but is always good so you know what you are getting.
This was one of the best meals we had, the quality of the food was brilliant. We ate around 4:30 and from ordering to the food arriving it took 20 mins. The kids meals were fabulous proper sausages, fluffy mash, proper chicken breast nuggets (not like the McDonalds ones). I had the smothered Chicken which was very tasty, nice moist chicken breast and good quality bacon, my husband had a Chicken Tikka which looked plentiful and he said had lots of chicken in it. The kids dessert that came as part of their meal deal was huge, I had to help finish it. With a large glass of wine and regular coke the whole meal cost £40 for 2 children and 2 Adults.
We have just waited nearly an hour for 3 adult meals and 1 child’s nothing special was ordered and was not informed it would be a long wait if we had been told we would have gone elsewhere the child’s pudding arrived after asking three people if we could have it this again took 20 mins for a slice of cake and ice cream
This pub is now renamed and known as The Beachcomber Inn. The pub has a lovely outdoor seating area and a fantastic outdoor play area for the kids. Inside there are plenty of tables and a large bar area. Me and my husband came here twice for food during our stay in Butlins. The first time we came we had our evening meal, it was relatively busy with a 40 minute wait however this was to be expected on a busy resort like Butlins. I would recommend that people arrive early for their evening meal as the wait time increased to 1 hour 15 minutes whilst we were there. I had smothered chicken (in a bbq and cheese sauce with bacon) chips and peas.. this dish was very large and was delicious. My husband had a large Yorkshire pudding with sausage, mash, peas in an onion gravy. He also enjoyed this and it was reasonable in size. I think for the two meals it was around £16 which is slightly more than your average pub in town however we thought it was still reasonable. The only thing I would say was the drinks are very expensive however you do expect this, a medium glass of rose was £6.35!! Although prices for drinks are the same in all the bars at Butlins. We also came here for breakfast one morning and had 1 porridge, 2x toast, 2 orange juices and Danish pastries. I was pleasantly surprised with this breakfast as it was reasonable in price (around £12) and you got 2 slices of toast per portion and also 3 warm Danish pastries. The only criticism I have is the orange juice is very bitter however that could just be a personal taste bud preference. I would definitely return here when I stay at Butlins again.
