Very nice place. Clean and organized. Neat one of a kind items. Good selection of wine and home interior items. Coffee is good too.
After a second poor experience in this store, I will not be returning nor will I recommend/refer to any friends or family. My husband, daughter, and I stopped in during the summer of 2020 because it looked like a cute shop. Not only were we followed around the store by who I presume were the owners, my husband was almost chastised for inquiring about a restroom. This year we decided to give it another chance because once again, it's a cute shop with cute items. I stopped to look at some of the beard products for my husband. I picked up a tin of beard balm, opened the UNSEALED lid to smell, and put it back. An older gentleman (the owner's husband per a young female employee) walked up to me out of nowhere and very condescendingly asked if I just broke the seal on the product and shook his head in disgust at me. I immediately went to find my husband and daughter to let them know we would be leaving. As I walked to the back of the store, the gentleman was speaking with a young female employee about me and what I had evidently just done to the product. I'm a grown woman who was raised with respect. Never would I ever pick up a product and intentionally damage it in any way just so I could smell it. I do not appreciate being treated this way as a customer and based on this place's Google reviews, a lot of other people don't appreciate it either. As a business owner, kindness goes a long way. Being rude, arrogant, and unpleasant is so off-putting and has just lost mine and countless friends/family member's business.
This is the second time we have tried to go to this store and each time the owners husband has given me more than enough reasons not to return. Huff and puffing around the store and talking down to my wife and I. I am not sure what the malfunction is. They have nice things I want to buy. I can't seem to get him to shut his condescending mouth long enough to take my money. We come here once a year on vacation and this seems to be the only place in town trying to refrain from doing business. Maybe they have an amazing local following who loves to be told what they are wrong. Last year the owners husband yelled at us for asking about a restroom and this year he snapped at my wife for smelling a beard balm. When I mentioned something to one of the other workers she apologized over and over for his behavior. Not her job. While I do appreciate her efforts it did seem a bit pre-rehearsed. Almost as if she has done this many times before. Please don't take my word for it. Feel free to go ask him for help so you can be looked down on and treated like a mere peasant in his kingdom of stuff people want but nobody needs.
I LOVE this store! I could've spent hours in here and I passed up somethings I'll be going back for but I had to draw the budget line somewhere today! The young lady ringing me up and the older gentleman (owner? making our coffee and lattes were both so friendly and helpful. (I kept adding on stuff and never felt ready to be done, lol The latte was awesome btw! I'm very excited about the bath scrub and the kitchen essentials I bought... and the cans of different Michigan made drinks! (Can't wait to try the Crantini I think I have to go back for this espresso set. Can't stop thinking about it I somehow didn't even get all of the aliolis in my cart. So much to see And a great dog too! Stop here!!!
