I eat at Red Star at least a couple of times a week. All their breakfasts are excellent as well as their hamburgers. The waitresses are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Their coffee is excellent.
Gotta love small town places. It's part of but separate from a Shell station. It's down the road from Ranger which has a population less than 1,000. There's probably 40 or so people here. I feel like we may be the only travelers in here. These folks look like they're from around here. We had breakfast and boy was it good. This is now going to be my go to place on the way to west Texas.
We stopped on our way to Lubbock we're hungry for breakfast. I had the Tucker's breakfast with no meat. I was pleasantly surprised that they made a good tasty gravy without meat,. I would of liked the grits to have been hotter. My hubby had the migas which he thoroughly enjoyed. The server was attentive friendly. Kept our beverages topped off. You can't beat less than $18 for a hearty meal.
Great chicken fried steak sweet tea, but the canned peas were squishy the pre mixed gravy were needing updating for sure. Didn't order salad because it was bottled dressings. Waitress was super sweet but I guess the older lady mgr stared at us while eating while she was gossiping with some old timers. Had me wait a while to pay for my check, thought she was pretty rude.
