Despite my medical condition requiring me to stick to a Fodmap diet, I was pleasantly surprised by the service I received at this restaurant. After emailing my food restrictions, Chef Lewis personally sat with us to go over the menu. My rib eye steak, chips, carrots, and tomato salad were cooked to perfection and delicious. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Thanks to the caring team and Chef Lewis, we had a wonderful Valentines dinner and have already booked a table for Mother's Day. Same order for me, Chef Lewis!
Came here for Christmas lunch and Norton House did not disappoint. The service was excellent and so professional and the food was outstanding. The Christmas pudding was particularly delectable. So much food, I couldn't finish and we still had a huge box for afternoon tea to take home. If there is a restaurant in heaven, this would be it.
Visited as part of a post-Christmas family get together, with grandparents and kids. One minor but important issue would be the fact that we thought we had booked it over the phone but having received no confirmation we called back and it transpired no booking had been made. Luckily they got us in. The food, service and surroundings were excellent. We were in the airy bright Brasserie area. Reasonable value and certainly everyone enjoyed it. £6.50 for a pint of soda lime felt excessive compared to the cost of everything else, but all in all, an excellent and tasty Sunday lunch!
I took a friend to lunch at Norton House after having had so many lovely meals there over the past 10 years. What a let down it was, with a very reduced, uninspired but pricey menu, poor service, uncleared tables everywhere and a total lack of atmosphere. A very plain cheese sandwich, a tasty but tiny burrata salad, 2 coffees and one medium glass of wine came to just short of £50! I asked for some bread to bolster my small salad and was duly presented with two slices of white, unappetising sliced bread, no butter. The staff were pleasant but not very efficient and when I checked if my coffee was decaff as I'd ordered, the waiter had no clue. This used to be a good place for a lovely lunch but it appears to have undergone a radical downturn what a shame...
We just had a wonderful Christmas Day 4-course meal. The food and service were excellent from all of the attentive staff. It couldn't have been bettered! It began with a Champagne reception, and we left with a huge afternoon tea and grazing box takeaway.
