I had purchased a Groupon voucher for this restaurant to use in August but was informed it was not valid during that month. Somehow the voucher was redeemed by accident in August. Groupon costumer service could only refund me if the manager of the restaurant would send an email to confirm the voucher has not been serviced. ONE MONTH LATER, after calling every other day, no email has been sent from the manager who appears impossible to get a hold of. On top of loosing my money cause I never got refunded by Groupon, one of the waitresses, Denise, was incredibly rude and condescending on the phone when I tried calling to sort things out. Even when I asked her if she could phone me back once she gets a hold of the manager, she SIGH out loud on the phone. I used to always love this restaurant great service and food but after my interaction with the place on sorting out my refund I must say I am very disappointed. Ironically, Denise said on the phone that it is upsetting that the restaurant is getting a bad name due to all the Groupon issues. Well, Denise, your attitude sure made it worse.
During the Fringe Festival and my last day in Edinburgh. Help wanted sign in the window and 1 customer inside. We were starving so we gave it a whirl. We were not happy with our experience here. I 'll start with the negatives and end with the positives. They had three beer choices on tap. 2 IPAs and Tennents Lager. They had a poor selection of bottle beverage. We asked for ice and they said they would have to run and get us some I think they literally had to go off premise to get ice. The starter portions were ridiculously small even though we ordered the 'large ' size. There were 6 of us and it allowed for maybe half of a serving size for 3 of us. The food was average at best. They ran out of Tennants beer, they ran out of Jameson, they ran out of ginger ale, and they ran out of the cider my sister was drinking. The positive part of our experience here? the staff was somewhat friendly, but mostly seemed annoyed with us.
The food was prepared just the way I like it. The service was friendly and there was good music playing. I ordered the big breakfast and a bagel. The coffee was great and so was the freshly squeezed orange juice.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I was appalled to see that it is still listed as a dining option in the Capital. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you are in Edinburgh. The food was cheap, deep fried, and outrageously priced. The woman who claimed to be the manager was rude and seemed disheveled. She smelled like cigarettes and her fingernails were dirty. The tables were sticky and the floor was dirty. I doubt this place will reopen after lockdown, as I don't think it would pass health inspections. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
