The quality of the food and portion sizes are excellent! The service is outstanding, as they are very accommodating (they even made a special heart-shaped pizza for my daughter). I have been disappointed by the quality of restaurants in Edinburgh in the past, but this one is a hidden gem.
I had dinner at this restaurant for the first time last Friday (2nd August). I ordered gnocchi with a unique sauce that included leeks, and it was delicious. My partner, who lives nearby, also had pasta and loved it. We had a couple of beers and bruschetta, all reasonably priced. We only tried it because it is next door to the pub we were at (Bennetts), but we will definitely be returning for the food. It was quite crowded on Friday around 8 pm, so you may want to make a reservation.
A group of five of us enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant after a long Sunday. We started by sharing the 1.5 Tagliere di salumi e verdure (antipasto platter) and then I had the pizza Sfiziosa (chorizo, chicken, and chillies). We also had two bottles of wine, one red and one white. My friends ordered various pasta and meat dishes, all of which were presented beautifully and well received. The restaurant was cozy and allowed for easy conversation without disturbing others. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. We ended the meal with coffee, including a doppio espresso for me, and left feeling satisfied and happy.
I had heard a series of good things, from a series of sources, about caffe e cucina on morningside road, so that I went to the end of a hectic week there for a place of lunch. I found the place very well populated and the tables that were not occupied had reserved signs on them. fortunately, my lunch companion for the day, jonathan, who had previously joined the nearby nonna’s kitchen, had made a booking so that I was shown to be a eckish.
I became after caffé e cucina by an Italian friend of mine (always a good sign) and enjoyed the experience. the small, well-designed restaurant has a beautiful ambiente and a great service with a varied menu of authentic Italian cuisine. the prices are not the lowest, but it is worthwhile for the quality and portion size. eating was very fresh, aesthetically pleasant and tasty! definitely worth a visit.
