However, during my visit yesterday after several years, I found the quality of the food to be disappointing. I ordered poached eggs on toast with coffee, while my wife ordered a bacon roll and tea. The service was good and the staff was friendly, but the food fell below our expectations. The poached eggs appeared to have been cooked in a microwave, resulting in two doughnut-shaped eggs with no yolk and a very runny consistency. The coffee was weak and frothy, while my wife's bacon was overcooked and her tea lacked flavor. This experience may have been an anomaly, but the overall quality of the food was unacceptable. Despite considering not eating the eggs, we opted to leave without complaining. This breakfast was possibly the worst we have encountered in our ten years of dining at various cafés in Edinburgh.
CJs is a cafe local to me and I’ve been numerous times, for take away, sitting in and they were a godsend during lockdown as provided a delivery service. Staff are always so lovely, the food is greasy and portions are large! Great prices especially the meal deals! Absolutely worth a visit.
What a hidden gem! I visited with my husband, mother, and father who is both blind and deaf. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and the food was outstanding. The service was exceptional as well.
My family visited CJs Cafe, to be met by friendly staff lead to our table, I had the most amazing eggy bread with bacon, my son and wife had a £6 breakfast was enormous with everything included, I will be back
Sausages were horrible cheap and nasty mushrooms were raw Coffee was the worst i have ever tasted The rest of the breakfast was not too bad Probably won't return purely because of coffee
