On this recent visit to Fishers in the City the food was good but the service was quite poor. The overall impression from our waitress was that she couldn't care less and she showed little interest in or warmth towards us as customers. My main course of monkfish and king prawn curry was, according to the menu, supposed to be served with an accompaniment of poppadoms and mango chutney they failed to arrive when the main courses were served. Not only did she fail to notice this but also she didn't check back a few minutes later to see if all was ok with our main courses. After 10 minutes I managed to attract the attention of another member of the waiting staff to ask if I could be served the missing items this lack of attention to detail lets this restaurant down! There's also too little time between courses they seem intent on serving food very quickly to get customers out the door and the next ones in it's disappointing as their fish and seafood dishes deserve better.
Will definitely recommend to family and friends, lovely dining experience
We are regular diners and always find the food and service of a high standard. Staff are attentive and well trained.
We visited Fishers on a Sunday evening, eating quite early. The restaurant was quiet, which felt a bit strange; we're used to the place being quite buzzing. But, as always, the food didn't disappoint. With so much great choice, we went for the fish and chips from the Favourites menu and starters of Chowder and fish cakes. Service was quick, polite and unobtrusive. Food arrived piping hot. The fish cakes were great, and my other half really enjoyed the bowl of Chowder. The fish and chips we both ordered Haddock was also excellent; the beer batter was crisp and tasty. Well worth a visit if you're in the capital.
