Good stop on a walk down to Dean Village - amazing little breakfast, good choice, amazing pastries. Fast service and a nice environment to sit and eat!
Lovely little cafe. I visited here a few days each week for around four months whilst I worked round the corner, although I did try a few of their other options on the menu which were lovely, my main order was their smoked salmon and...cream cheese bagel which was devine. This paired alongside a cup of tea and a malteser slice, which was to die for. I think it became a little bit too regular, as one of the lovely women who work there knew my order before I even ordered it, which made my stay there even more welcoming. The staff are all lovely, very quick with making the food and always on hand if needed. I was always made to feel welcome, especially since I dined alone, and I will be disappointed to say that today will be my last time visiting the cafe for a while as I will be starting a new job further away. However, I will be making a return visit here in the future!
There are many eateries in Edinburgh siutable for the fuller fat-cat funders and the most modest money manager. But ... the real trick is to find one that's just that wee bit cool, carefree ... and yet custonmer-caring and just genuine ... but with no...holds barring the offer of good food and value. Such a clear contender is The Florentin Cafe near the Bridge over The River Dean at Stockbridge. Sitting amongst the complement of happy smiling customers and similarly disposed staffers, we spent an amusing and memorably comfortable hour being served and demolishing our feast of teas, coffees, scrambled eggs, pork sausages, bacon rolls, beautifully-crafted cakes and sandwiches. The place itself is homely and unpretentious, clean and curiously uncluttered. The clientele included a famous female journalist, author and TV regular whose privacy we left undisturbed. The prices were commensurate with the quality of all on offer and the location of the business. The welcome was Haste Ye Back ... and we'll be back.
We stumbled across this lovely cafe while strolling through the Stockbridge area. So pleased we decided to stop as it was a very comfortable place to take the weight of our feet and enjoy delicious cakes and excellent tea and coffee.
