Robertsons 37 - Edinburgh, City of

Lovely little bar with a great “local” feel service was speedy we were served by John and Kirsten who had a great rapport with each other. Many laughs and great music choices. Prices overall were a little high but the service more than made up for it will definitely return on our next venture to Edinburgh! Thanks guys.

Grim. Scruffy, unwelcoming. Disinterested and rude staff; tried to fob us off with plastic glasses as 'glasswasher wasn 't working '. When we suggested they washed the glasses by hand (it wasn 't busy) they said 'We 're not paid enough to do that '. Other regulars had real glasses though. Some poor unsupecting foreign tourists wandered in and sat down if I 'd known their language I 'd have warned them off. Some kind of gruel was being served from one of those grimy electric cauldrons behind the bar by a very grubby and unsanitary looking person in a big bobble hat, the racing was (loudly) on the TV, and the 2 barmen were totally engrossed in a laptop clearly not in the customer service. We passed again at night and the 'clientele ' sat outside and the antisocial activity we saw confirmed our belief that this is what can confidently be referred to as 'a dive '. AVOID.

I've been visiting this bar with my nephew on a regular basis over the last few months and have always been made to feel welcome by the staff, albeit they always have to ask to see his I.D.! I'm surprised, therefore, to read some of the negative comments on here so I'd advise people to ignore them and give Robertson's a go for themselves.

Popped in for a pint of Tennents and was charged £4.60. Boy next to me orders the same pint and is charged £3.80, when I asked the barman why he tells me that the other guy is a loyal customer…….that’ll be my last pint in there !

Horrified by one of the male members of staff’s attitude behind the bar. Extremely rude and rushed. No patience or customer service skills. Had asked for two pints of Guinness and before I could say anything else he was away pouring them. When I did order my next drink he was extremely annoyed and told me next time to order them all at once. Before I could explain that he had walked away, he had sheepishly walked away again. He was angry when I had ordered crisps as I did not specify the flavour and he then gave me the flavour I did not ask for. Not even a smile or “can I get you anything else”. Won’t be back!
