The restaurant was cleaned and atmosphere was good. The food wasn't terrible, but the amount of oil made me pause slightly. The steak was cooked well and was tender. The accompany fried oysters was salty. The broccoli was good, but was also swimming in oil. The chocolate mousse was nice.
Popped in for Sat drinks then had dinner at White Horse. We did not have a booking but they managed to accommodate us by the window in the bar area. The waiter was very attentive and recommended a lovely glass of red wine, which we enjoyed. The tapas like portions were just right in size and taste. And a good mix of vegetables and fish. Service was good from the bar/waiting staff. One negative because of where we sat, we could see/hear those coming in. The manager's rudeness was not professional or welcoming to those coming in with or without a reservation. Plus, it was annoying to hear her be rude to the staff and inattentive to diners, when the place got busy. Otherwise, would recommend the place for its good service, wine, and food.
Excellent dinner here, friendly attentive service and pleasant atmosphere. We ordered 5 dishes and a side to share. Standout dishes were the tempura oysters and lobster toast. Ordered a nicely chilled muscadet to go with the food.
I went with my wife for dinner, we were very excited to try Scottish fish and seafood, we travelled from Liverpool and booked a table at The white horse oyster based on the reviews which do not reflect at all the experience we had. We ordered two oysters which we enjoyed, hot seafood platter, bread and fries with crab. The hot seafood platter was disappointing, the lobster was overcooked, the octopus was cremated, black and bitter, I’ve had two bites and sent it back, The lobster and octopus were very chewy and no seasoning what so ever. The fries with crab, the same no seasoning at all, the portion was very small served in a tinny bowl, difficult to eat from, Regarding service I was expecting a brief explanation of the platter priced at £110. Very reduced wine list, we wanted a bottle of white wine but 3 were not available, we end up ordering a bottle of prosseco, no information about the wine either from the waiter, she brought us the more expensive bottle of prosseco without to consult us first. Maybe was a bad day but I would not go back, We paid £200 for dinner, similar prices with Michelin star restaurants but there is no comparation.
Had a whisky experience here. Great mood and very wide selection
