I wanted to try the local dish, haggis, and noticed the signs outside the restaurant advertising vegetarian haggis, which was perfect for me. The place was busy, but we were quickly shown to a table and given menus. We ordered the traditional haggis and the vegetarian version as starters, along with duck for the main course. The haggis was surprisingly delightful—moist, flavorful, and a pleasure to eat. The duck was also excellent; the meat fell off the bone, and the orange sauce added a lovely sweetness to the dish. The portions were generous, and the potatoes were quite filling. There was a minor hiccup as we weren't offered water at the table, and initially received the wrong dish. However, I would definitely recommend this place; you won’t regret it!
We were in the mood for a traditional Scottish dinner featuring haggis, neeps, and tatties, so we decided to visit Makars. We were thrilled with our meal! My son proclaimed it to be the best haggis he’s ever tasted, and I really enjoyed the vegetarian version. Others in our group had the grilled chicken, which was also a hit. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant!
A modern food that is equally good for both local and traveling, especially if you can explore the old city that can awaken a hunger. they are proud to use reputable suppliers who know and trust them personally and show it! as a visitor in Scotland, haggis was not to miss a court, with her served on a turnip, honey and thymian bed, it was delicious. I dared a taste as it was hesitant to eat a whole meal of this local dish. the braided slowly boiled lamb shank, which is cooked in a rosmarin, red wine and cranberry, is worthy of its mouth. the rosti fritter stacks with a fresh and crispy coleslaw is a light main function. they have a wide range of local and international craftsmen, if not knock an alcoholic drink, try a Bundaberg walker beer, soouo refreshing. service was pleasant.
Lunch with family friends, didn't know what to expect, wasn't disappointed. We all opted for different meals, each one of us throughly enjoyed wlhat was presented to us. Staff extremely friendly, nice relaxing atmosphere, lovely decor throughout. A true gem of a find, so many enticing meals to be sampled, certainly will be back, and soon too.
