You can always eat a good Chinese restaurant by the number of Chinese people there and this place was packed into the racket when we visited. The authentic atmosphere continues with the menu scattered by the stereotypical offers to most Chinese restaurants. This could explain some of the negative reviews, but the food we ordered was both authentic and delicious. I had the mountain roasted chicken and the dough was nice while the fish dish of my wife was fresh and full of taste. This place may also make the best spare ribs I've ever had so soft and juicy. The staff was attentive and friendly and my only handle is about the terrible toilets. The restaurant shares his Lavenvies with an adjacent pub, something I discovered when I turned wrong on the way back to my table and entered a room where a guy was on stage and a song slipped out. They are definitely toilets that you can use a Dingy Pub more than a quality restaurant, with Pish on the floors and broken toilet seats to conjure memories of my student days in Edinburgh. Luckily, I only had to stand up for my disposal obligations. If I had to sit down, it would have been a much closer experience. But don't let what a fine restaurant is, with authentic cuisine at a decent price for the capital.
Service was friendly and the dumplings were tasty, but we had gone in because of an advertisement on the window for an offer on tea and dumplings at a set price. This wasn't the case and was told that it wasn't an offer they do anymore but just have the sign up. We were looking for a small bite and drink like that so were dissapointed at the false advertising.
Every time we went to Edinburgh we stopped there for a lunch. The first time was good, with a lady greeting us and makes us feel welcome, the second time was just average with poor customer service. The last time we went there, service was just awful. They had no interest at all in us as a customer as they had the rest of the restaurant booked for other people. When we received the appetiser we still didn't have any cutlery and we had to wait for it. Food was just average in taste but you can definitely find something better out there. I'm sorry as I'm not very picky about food but I was very disappointed, especially for customer care. NOT recommended.
Service is good and the waiters are nice, but the cuisine is really horrible. I had Wonton soup and it wasn't good at all, I didn't even finish the soup as it tasted like liquid soap and the dumplings were really bad, and the sticky rice and chicken was really disappointing. I won't be back there that's for sure.
