I had walked past on several occasions and decided to get some take out. A good selection of vegan options and we opted for a vegan sushi set and a maki set between us. The staff were very nice and the food was great. plenty of variety and no shortage of soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi. (the downside was the packaging). Overall if you are in the mood for sushi Shinsen is very close to town and worth trying.
The restaurant offers clear vegan options, but unfortunately, the mushrooms lacked flavor and the sushi was just average. I spent around £40 for a few dishes, but I still left feeling hungry. This is an update to my previous rating from October 27, 2022.
I tried the aubergine and pak choi teriyaki dish, which was part of a £5 deal. It was tasty and a decent portion, but I wouldn't have been happy paying the full price of £11. The red sushi roll was nice, but nothing to write home about. It’s a decent spot if you're with friends, but there are many other amazing Asian restaurants to choose from when you're in the mood for a delicious meal.
This café has a limited number of tables and offers vegan sushi boxes for takeout. There are also some hot vegan dishes available. Menu items, including the wine selection, are clearly labeled.
