We had pork chops with a mustard sauce, fish and chips, and steak/ale pie (2 people had this). All of us thought the portions were overly generous and the quality was excellent. I should also mention we started with the smoked salmon app and it was one of the best versions I’ve ever had! Only downside was they were out of a dish on the menu that my friends wanted but in today’s supply chain challenged world, not gonna hold it against them. Great service and great food!!
Normally I would give just 3 stars for a place like this, but in this case a fourth one is due; the fish was really good, and also the salmon was really enjoyable. The waiter was nice and kind (and speaks a good Italian, that may be useful for tourists), and provided a perfect service. The place itself needs some improvement, but nothing too serious. Gammon steak was way too salty and a bit dry. Anyway, a good place to have a break.
Delicious Fish and chips, good service and a nice Guinness.
We could have sat I this bar forever watching the bar manager. His build, his clothes, his mannerisms, the way he walked pulling his shirt sleeves down, it was like watching Basil Fawltey, a great asset to the pub and for people who remember the program. The bar itself was perfect and the staff brilliant. Well worth a visit for the entertainment value.
