The ribs were juicy, the beef was cooked to perfection, and the sausage was out of this world! We ordered the family's platter for $105, plus an additional half-pound of sausage for $8, all to go. It came with generous portions of baked beans (which had a delicious hint of brown sugar), coleslaw (which surprisingly included dill pickles—an unusual but fantastic combination), and fries (perfectly salted). We’ll definitely come back every time we’re in town! It fed our family of four—two adults and our 20-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter—who are both bodybuilders, and we still had plenty left over.
But it wouldn’t be fair to overlook the other amazing dishes at Roscoe's. The ribs are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of meat and delicious fat, delivering that classic rib flavor. They are also incredibly tender. There’s so much to say about the sides and other offerings, but I encourage you to explore them for yourself—every dish is a contender for your favorite. I live in the heart of the city, and I pass at least four other critically acclaimed barbecue restaurants just to make the 30-minute drive to enjoy the best of the best at Roscoe's.
Big KC BBQ! I arrived just before closing time and was pleasantly surprised. The burnt ends were incredibly delicious and tender. The ribs were slightly overcooked but still full of flavor. I really loved their house barbecue sauce! The cheesy corn was a delightful surprise and tasted fantastic. The coleslaw had a nice dill flavor with a hint of light vinegar, while the beans were on the sweeter side with a spicy kick. Overall, my entire family prefers Roscoe's BBQ!
One of the best things in the Kansas City area is the many small barbecue establishments you stumble across. Roscoe's is a prime example. It's only open weekdays (11-3 Mondays, 11-5 Tuesdays thru Fridays), but it's worth leaving work early to pick up some delicious barbecue. I really liked their sauce which had a distinct tangyness to go with the sweet.
This time I ordered the burnt end and sausage dinner with coleslaw and Frankie's taters for sides. The food was great and always is everytime. The staff is friendly and service is quick. Definitely a must try if you're in the area.
