The popadoms and pickle tray starter were delicious, and for our mains we had the dansak and jalfrezi, both with chicken tikka, which were also lovely. The naan bread and rice were excellent as well. The atmosphere could use a slight improvement; perhaps playing the music a bit louder would help so that we didn't feel so isolated. Despite that, we had a great evening overall. (The waiter even went out of his way to bring us pink Prosecco). We will definitely return to this restaurant.
Please read a lot of these reviews before considering going. Onion chutney was a chopped onion without seasoning or anything added. Chicken pakora was stodgy and in batter with no spice (sure from Iceland which is actually an insult to Iceland No sauce or flavour and £8.50 was disgusting and tasteless so decided to complain. The owner was very rude to us so because to this we decided to pay for what we’d eaten or not eaten and left. The poorest meal and service I have ever experienced and will remember for all the wrong reasons. £12.50 for king prawn starter which was 3 prawns and not KING. £7.95 bottle Cobra lager. Avoid.
Before going to this restaurant, I read other reviews and was greeted by a grumpy elderly gentleman at the front of house who didn't make us feel welcome. He showed us to a table almost reluctantly, giving the impression that he would rather be doing takeout orders. Despite feeling tempted to leave, it was my wife's birthday and we decided to stay. Fortunately, the food turned out to be exceptional and made up for the lack of hospitality and poor service. Without the delicious food, I would have given this place one star. The quality of the food deserves five stars. It wasn't a pleasant experience to feel unwelcome in a hospitality setting, and I wonder how long this restaurant will stay open with such bad staff. However, the elder gentleman did pack up my wife's leftovers for us to take home, which was a nice gesture. I recommend using this place for takeout, as the food is excellent. If you do dine in, just ignore the grumpy elder staff member who detracts from the amazing food. There's no excuse for such poor service.
Some of the best Indian food I've had. The menu has a wide range of Indian plates, and everything we got was incredible. Super authentic and tasty. And there's alcohol! Highly recommend
Being big fans of Indian food, we were delighted to find this restaurant in Stornoway. However, whilst there wasn't anything especially bad, it wasn't good either. The food was particularly bland, very unusual for Indian cooking; so much so that we definitely won't be going back. The prices were really high too. Do not recommend.
